Text Analyser Version 2.0 - Overview

WritItPro - Professional Writing Software

The best text analysis tool around - Text Analyser shows you all of the statistics related to your text.

Just released Text Analyser Version 2.0 - a desktop application for analysing your writing to help you revise and edit it in the most effective way by analysing text copied from any word processor or other source. You simply highlight and copy the text to analyse within your word processing program or other source and then go to Text Analyser Version 2.0 and click the 'Analyse Text' button, it couldn't be easier!

We have packed Text Analyser Version 2.0 full of features to analyse your text in a variety of ways including readability scores based on both the Gunning Fog Index and the Flesch-Kinkaid grading scale. You can see at a glance statistics about word, sentence and paragraph count together with average words per sentence and percentage of difficult words, having 3 or more syllables, plus an indication of Lexical Density.

A list of individually analysed words is displayed together with the frequency that the word occurs within each paragraph. The paragraphs are assigned numbers to indicate which paragraphs the selected word is contained within.

Selecting a word from the list instantly shows its paragraph distribution to help analyse the word usage and highlight possible repetition problems that would otherwise be more difficult to spot. To help visually reinforce this analysis you can instantly switch to a view of the text that displays all occurrences of the selected word highlighted for easy reference.

A FREE full product demo is available for download. This demo has all of its functionality included but is limited to 15 days usage from when its first run on your machine. Not that we feel you will need 15 days to convince yourself of the usefulness of this writers tool - it should only take you about 15 minutes to do that!

Once you purchase a license I will generate a license key, that I email personally to you together with clear instructions about how to unlock your downloaded software. This completely unlocks the application for all future use and stops the registration information screen from appearing each time the application is opened.

Feature list:

Text analysed from any source - All you have to do to get your text analysed is highlight it, copy it and then fire up Text Analyser and click and the 'Analyse Text' button. This means that your text can come from any Windows™ PC source that you have it in!

Word frequency analysis - How often have you wanted to check how many times a word is repeated throughout a block of text or chapter in a novel you are writing? Text Analyser can do this for you in seconds showing the paragraph by paragraph distribution of a selected word and it also displays them highlighted within the analysed text. This helps you to quickly see how you have used the word and if you need to edit your text and replace words with similar ones to either make it more readable or look more professional.

Full statistics displayed - Once analysed a host of statistical information about the text is displayed showing word count, sentance count, paragraph count, average sentence length, percentage of difficult words (words with 3 or more syllables), Lexical Density, Gunning Fog Index and the Flesch-Kinkaid grade.

Indication of word distribution within paragraphs - When a word is selected from the list the display instantly shows exactly which paragraphs it occurs in and how many times it appears in each paragraph. This is a very useful when used in conjuction with the text display and it was the original idea that lead to the development of this application.

Ability to see selected words highlighted - With Version 2.0 of Text Analyser comes the ability to view the analysed text with any selected word highlighted throughtout the text. This feature is invaluable in helping to quickly identify where rewrites are required or word replacement is needed.

Gunning's Fog Index - Robert Gunning's Fog Index was one of the first efforts to quantify the readability of textual material. The number that results from the calculation is meant to correlate to grade levels. A figure of 7 or 8 is ideal, 12 or more indicates that the text may be too difficult to read.

Flesch-Kinkaid grading score - This is yet another yard stick calculation that shows the readability of a piece of text. The average result for this grade should ideally lie between 6 and 10 and is supposed to directly relate to the school grade of the intended readership.

Lexical density - This is another kind of readability test designed to show how easy or difficult a piece of text is to read. The lexical density of a text tries to measure the proportion of the content (lexical) words over the total words. Texts with a lower density are more easily understood. As a guide, lexically dense text has a lexical density of around 60-70% and those which are not dense have a lower lexical density measure of around 40-50%.

Exception lists - This was another feature in the orginal Text Analyser product that adds so much power and flexibility in such a simple way. Basically a list of words can be introduced as exception words, these words are not analysed during the text processing at all. With Version 2.0 we have extended this feature so that multiple exception lists can be maintained and applied when required under different circumstances or contexts for instance to exclude a character name from the analysis.

Helpful tooltips - These are used within the application to display helpful hints or explanations for guidance and to help the user understand certain results that are displayed.
